Ptolus Session #1: Urban Decay
It all began with a stranger to Ptolus having his money stolen.
Faizun Dul, a woodsman from the south, had no sooner set foot in the city then had his coin pouch stolen by a gang of youthful pickpockets. Fortunately, Faizun met some other kind Ptolusites who helped him out. There was Xerross a harrow elf oathsworn, Overnorak the sorcerer, and Agatha Redhair, the priestess of an unknown god Pipule.
That act of good-will soon bound the four together, and they decided to lodge at the Delvers' Square. Three of them -- Xerross, Overnorak, and Faizun will lodge in the Ghostly Minstrel, while Agatha had a room in a lodging house nearby.
Tellith Herdsman, the woman who runs the front desk of the Ghostly Minstrel, was impressed by the four and offered them their first job. Tellith’s cousin’s ex-husband, a rat-catcher by the name of Algie, had recently gone missing. Tellith asks the four adventurers to help out. The watch would do nothing, since the rat-catchers’ guild was in the Warrens, and the watch never enters the Warrens, except in force.
The four adventurers eventually went to the rat-catcher’s guild, only to bump into a gang of Pale Dog muscles who warns them off. The adventurers defeated the Pale Dogs and found that someone had paid the Pale Dogs in making sure no one help the rat-catchers.
They also learned that there is a traitor among the rat-catchers. Soon, the adventurers realized that the traitor among the rat-catchers is a woman called Beila. The adventurers surprised Beila in her lair and it turned out that Beila is a were-rat. Defeating Beila and her ratlings, the adventurer learned that Beila’s brother, Vernon, has hatched a plot to take over the Warrens for the rat-kind.
Vernon had apparently bought off the garbage collection guild, the sewage department, and the watch to allow filth to build-up in the Warrens. Meanwhile, as the rats multiplied, Vernon turned his attention to eliminating the rat-catchers’ guild.
Realizing that Vernon is their real target and his garbage scow is where Algie is being held, the adventurers undertook to assault the scow. At the garbage scow, the adventurers defeated Vernon and his giant cockroach pet and rescued Algie the rat-catcher.
Successful in their endeavor, the adventurers returned Algie to his home and earned their rewards.
However, the adventurers couldn’t shake the feeling that there is even more going on, for they had found the following strange entry in Vernon’s journal:
It seems that the adventurers have managed to stumble into a strange confluence of events. A war between the two crime organizations, the Balacazars and the Killravens is now brewing. What is “the Night”? What is the sacred venom? Who is the strange old lady?

“Suepect Killravens wishes to open a running sore on the side of Balacazar, hence her support for work in the Warrens. Never mind, will use whatever I can to bring about the Night. Speaking of which… Managed to sell vial of sacred venom to strange old lady… Hate those that live higher! Ha! Soon enough, there’ll be blood and chaos in their formerly comfortable lives!”
